Punat is situated in the south part of the Island of Krk, in one of the most protected bays in the Adriatic. It lies around 30 km from the Krk Bridge and around 8 km south of the old town of Krk.
This small town is the perfect getaway for guests who want to spend their vacation in nature, surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean vegetation and autochthonous gastronomic offer.
The first beach is the town beach in Punat Bay and lies only 200 m away from the hotel. The town’s centre can be reached in 10 minutes’ walk (800 m away).
A vibrant atmosphere is the best term that actually describes Punat. Very busy Marina with hundreds of boats and sailing boats is open all year round and exciting events such as Croatia Cup regatta and Olive and prosciutto days festival (
special gastronomic offer, olive oil tasting) make this small town an attractive all year destination.
Numerous beaches and parks, a rich vegetation, vacation houses, the Marina of Punat; sports activities such as sailing, diving, water skiing, windsurfing, tennis, aqua park, hiking and miniature golf make Punat a versatile destination.
Local restaurants and taverns offer homemade cuisine with ecological ingredients and the cultural offer – especially the small islet of Kosljun – add even more to the attractiveness of this getaway.
Thankful to the surrounding olive groves, Punat is widely renowned for its olive oil, which, if properly dosed, can be used as a natural medicine. The small islet of Kosljun with its famous Franciscan monastery is what this marine town is mostly proud of.
Beautiful Island of Krk (also known as “the golden island”) lies in the bay of Kvarner, in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. The island of Krk is just 30 kilometres away from the city of Rijeka – which is the traffic, business, commercial, university and cultural centre of Kvarner.
Thankful to a bridge, connecting the island to the mainland, it can be reached quite easy - literally all roads lead to the island:
- by plane
Rijeka airport is actually located on Krk Island close to Omisalj, and not on the mainland, as the name would suggest. This is a small airport, and there are limited flights from cities in Europe. Otherwise, you can also fly into towns of Pula and Zagreb.
- by car
From the mainland there is a bridge connection to the island. This is one of the most comfortable ways to reach the island, since you can admire the wonderful sceneries on the way :)
Please note that when choosing to reach the island by car, there is a bridge toll of 35,00 Kuna (approx. 5,00 €) per car for both ways. The bridge toll has to be paid at the tollbooth on site. You can pay either in EURO or in the local Kuna currency. It is always best if you have small change ready.
Several towns on the island and around it offer rent-a-car services.
- by bus
A bus can take you straight onto the islands main city of Krk and some other destination on the island, including Punat town. Bus Croatia is the right place to look up for schedules. Getting to the island from Rijeka and neighbouring areas is also very easy, and then you can just swap busses and continue your journey.
- from the sea
Boats will bring you into the ports or small marinas, and the island is accessible by ferry to the Valbiska harbour.
Krk longest part is 38 km and its widest 20 km long. Its coast is around 190 km long. The closest mainland is only about a hundred meters away and its neighboring islands are the islands of Cres, Goli and Rab.
On the island of Krk there are three streams and two lakes.
Krk Island has a central position in the Kvarner bay. Due to its pleasant Mediterranean climate, excellent geographical position and a variety of natural and cultural beauties, scattered all over the island, it has earned the name “Golden Island”.
Thousands of years old towns and villages, well-equipped city beaches, secluded coves and wonderful restaurants will make your visit an unforgettable one. Do have in mind that due to its popularity the island does get high amounts of crowds in the high season months of July and August.
Main attractions include the city of Krk with its Frankopan castle, city hall from the 16th century and Krk cathedral. Biserujka cave (located on the north-eastern part of the island, close to Silo) with its marvellous cave decorations, will be a real treat for all those interested into discovering the underground world. Not to forget is Kosljun islet in the bay of Punat with its Franciscan monastery.
Krk is set to be completely CO2 neutral and aims to become the first Mediterranean self-sustainable island by 2030 with photovoltaic panels for energy production, zero-waste management, own sources of water and ecological agriculture that can provide food for all inhabitants.
Krk Island is celebrated especially because of its crystal clear waters, thankful to the Blue Flag programme (the sea and coastal environment protection programme).
The necessary criteria to earn a Blue Flag are based on a high level of service quality, the cleanness of water and coastal areas, and of course the equipment and amenities provided on the beach.
Beaches awarded with Blue Flag are the city beach of Krk town, The Marina of Punat, and beaches in Baska, Malinska, Njivice and Omisalj.
“Eco island Krk” represents a complete model of waste management, which is the first of its kind in Croatia that treats all types of waste.
6500 containers have been installed in 1400 places on the island in order to ensure the successful operation of the scheme.
Domestic waste is collected in five separate containers (organic waste, paper, PET waste, glass and other).

We have personally visited, tested and fallen in love with each of our house. Inclusion to our selection can’t be bought. At least one member of our team spent a few nights in all our villas, so we know every owner by its first name as well as the name of their children.
Our standards are very high. Over 70% of personally tested properties fail to make it into our selection!
We make you feel special: To us, you are not a number. We have deliberately decided to stay “small” and boutique, to avoid mass tourism and rather concentrate on excellent customer service.
Who will organize not only your holiday home and desired period, but also arrange for the boat rental, transfer, give you information of where the best restaurant in the city is, where the first hospital is and how to reach an island in combination with specific flight details.
What we tell you is 100% true. We hate making things look better. If you have small children and you want to make a reservation for a villa that has rocky beach in front of it, we will tell you that it is not ideal for the toddlers.
You are safe: We are always with you - before your holiday and during your journey and vacation you can reach us on a mobile number 24/7.Read more
